  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
That's effing horrible!!!!!!!!!!! Unfortunately, the law of supply and demand trumps the animal cruelty laws which is very sad to say the least.

Thats how i feel too.. it is pretty harsh but what if thats the only job that these guys can get ? Not everybody can get a comfy desk job at silicon valley .

^ agreed ^

I would be really surprised if not one person here helped any industry that kills animals whether it be eating meat or wearing leather etc.

I feel the same way then I think about all the beef, chicken, pork, and yes even fish that the average human consumes...then apply same said logic to the butchering and slaughtering of millions of animals on a daily basis by none other than our own country...I am not contradicting your statement as I said I feel the same way but its how the world turns.

i would never do that, even if it was the only job i could get.. i wouldnt be able to.
this makes me sad, i cant believe that. i want to go and club all those people in the head.
thats sickening.

Its no worse than the butchers at the slaughter house. People gotta make a living!

Yeah it is.
In the fur industry, a decent sized amount of the animals arn't even killed before they skin them.

These seals are not hunted to fulfill a need. If arctic people kill seals to make clothing that protects them from their environment, that's one thing. When people baby seals so that incredibly rich people can show how rich they are, that's another.

Conspicuous consumption is a big problem, it leads to the clubbing of seals, the dehorning of Rhinos, tigers killed for their gonads, and the overfishing of Sturgeon for caviar.

The fact that people will pay thousands of dollars for a seal-fur coat has created this industry.

These people kill seals not because they are evil or heartless, but because it pays a LOT more than farming or fishing. The real villains in this story are the consumers that buy the coats.

Also, remember that the Arctic is one of the most fragile ecosystems on Earth. Do you suppose the Russian Fur Hunters clean up after themselves and fly all their garbage home?

i like how everyone in here is against it, but i bet all of you eat Hambergers, steak, tried Viel, pork etc... its no different except the seals get made into dog food.

Dog food? You think they helicopter the carcasses off the ice?

It is true if you eat McDonald's beef that was raised on clear-cut Brazilian rainforests. Know where your food comes from! :)
