Well, nothing for nothing his posting was to I.D. the animal. Nothing in his post suggested that he was going to just return it back into the wild, no need to jump on people so hard that are just asking questions. I am sure that your record with fishkeeping like all of ours has something in our past that was subject to scrutiny.

Sure, thats true, but I dont go out of my way to do things that are questionable either.

Im sure its not like he does this frequently, like he said it was an accident and instead of just out right killing the animal he's trying to help it survive until he goes back to return it.

You must not know much about spelling either... cause you don't spell ameteur like that

is the sand in the tank it's in new or was it taken out of a running setup?

there seems to be a lot of useless aggression going on here, all in all I think our poster gets the main point of what was to be said. We do not condone releasing w/c animals back into the wild after being kept in a tank environment, with that out of they way.....I think you did provide some very good information and suggestions on feeding this animal in the meantime :)

My first two post shouldnt have been taken as me getting angry or bashing, but more of me trying to be informative. I didnt pop my top untill he told me to F off. It just makes me mad when people release non-native or native species back into an ecosystem with out thinking real long and hard about what potential problems may arise.
I enjoy fishing, and I enjoy keeping fish. Around here we have had some schmucks introduce tilapia into one of the power plant lakes and they have taken it over since there isnt really anything in the lake that can keep it in check. And in a different lake, we have had someone introduce duckweed, which is nuissance. It gets tangled up in your lures and your troller motor prop if you are close to the bank.

Its the little stuff that always has potential to become a big problem, thats all I have been trying to say this whole time.

It's a lightning whelk.

I'm not sure about SC law, but in Florida, those who collect organisms (with a permit) can return them up to 30 days later as long as they were in a quarantined system.

It sounds like your system is quarantined...but like I said I don't know the laws there. There could theoretically also be things living in the substrate or tank in cyst form (if it had SW organisms previously). I wouldn't feed it unless you are going to keep it, to avoid contamination.
