i usually add it before but i have forgotten to add it first and i have had no issues. i believe that it is better to add it before though.

I just run straight tap water into the fish tank for my water changes. No prime, no nothing and my fish seem fine? They breed and seem to be growing fine. I do spend the money I save on prime on my fish. So it's no big deal either way for me, I still don't have enough money for everything I want to do
