I would just like confirmation that this is ick. Friends tank. She just purchased these this weekend.

Hello; Please understand this is just a guess, but I am not thinking it looks like ick. The spots look some too fuzzy. It may just be the photo.

Hello; My first very wild guess is a fungal infection. but this is very much a long shot. hopefully some other s will have a better idea.

Can’t say they have a fuzzy look. Pic isn’t so clear. Does look like body fluke. Would dose some Paraguard.

Would fungal present itself in a matter of hours or is it something that would “grow” slowly?
She just picked these fish up Sunday and there were no visible issues.
Thank for the responses.

Fungus can grow quickly.

It could be a combination of ick and fungus. Because the ick protozoa dig holes, burrowing into the fish, fungus (or bacteria) then attack the lesions where the ick has dug in and manifest as a secondary infection.
Below a bad case of ick.

The above was cured using only rock salt, added to the tank, 3 lbs per 100 gallons.
About 8 days later

The picture is not clear but if looking like small bubbles, besides what's already said, it could also be trichodina. Trichodina can also infect the gills and eyes(making that cloudy eye look). The parasite is normally non-pathogenic but can attack fish with weak immune system. The med to treat it is praziquantel in a bath for 2 weeks. It is actually easily identified via a microscope as it has very specific shape, rather beautiful, if one can say that about a parasite.
