well... i finally did it.. i sold my ray...:nilly:

now, i would love to hear some feedback on my new suggested stock list for my empty 120 gallon.

Filtration: FX5, Eheim 2028 Pro 2 and a 1200GPH power head

stock:

- 1X Female Red Terror (Cichlasoma festae)

- 1X Zebra Tilapia (Tilapia buttikoferi)

- 1X Tiger Oscar

- 1X Male green terror

- ?X dither fish (need suggestions)

for the dither fish i was thinking 12 tiger barbs or maybe some giant Danios.

im open to all suggestions!!!
Thanks :)

Some SilveDollars would look nice but Giant Dianos are better dithers then barbs alot quicker so less chance of getting picked off.

All are excellent choices of cichlids!

However, there could be some problems with your chosen list.

The festae, the butti, the GT and rarely also the oscar, can cause absolute mayhem in a tank, of any size etc.

It all comes down to trial & error, and what works out for you.

I've had a stocklist, in a smaller tank than yours, of much "worse" individuals, and more of them, and it turned out to be the most peaceful tank i have yet to own, so it could work, but it's a big could

alright, i have decided to go with silver dollars as dithers.. since i already have some in my 50 gallon.

the Zebra Tilapia (Tilapia buttikoferi) has been removed from the list to help reduce aggression.

good call on taking the butti off the list...that was going to be my first recommendation. not only for the aggression but that many large fish would put quite a strain on the bioload of a 120. I think you should be good with what you're planning on now so long as you keep up with the water changes and keep an eye out to make sure aggression doesn't get out of hand. :)

my thoughts exactly, thank u. :)

aren't you afraid that the oscar might eat those little danios as dithers? i got some tin foil barbs (when they were small) and some other silver fish that make the tank look more active. i.e. (silver dollars, and giant balas)

u didn't read the whole thread did u? hehehe ;)

Cichlids? Let me rephrase that...

CICHLIDS?

I was going to say scrap all of them on the list and get some datnoids, and some fancy plecos:D.

Joking bud.

I think that seeing you got rid of the butterkoferi it's a more doable tank. But I have found from past experiences that Terrors hate other Terrors. Hint hint;)
