confused about what filters i need

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
You may want to buy three, like they said you could have one on the 20 and 2 on the 90 and you'll be all set, at that price you can sell them used and not lose a cent (that always helps me to justify buying something). it will be your cheapest way to go and give you enough filtration for your needs. I have an AC70 with the sponge, scrubbies and some filter floss and it works great for me, i have it teamed with a magnum 350 but its on a 150 gallon, so two of them on a 90 would work fine.

by the way ac70s are normally like $45 online and $60 at stores, they go for about $30-$35 used on ebay!

I would recommend you to get all three if you can swing it, the free shipping and the coupon should help out. I would try to get a loan from the family if at all possible since you will be having both tanks setup anyways. Some on the boards have horded these at the steal of a price Big Al's is selling them for.(me included) Trust me, your not going to find it at a cheaper price anywhere unless someone ups and gives you one.

Howdy,

so that's all i'll need for the 90g? no pumps or anything else? just that and the air pump?

20 gal: Eheim 2215
90 gal: Eheim 2250 or 2x 2217

That's all you need  The 2215 even comes with all media included.

Eheims are great filters, but a bit pricey. If you go with messy fish like piranha, in my experience the HOB would be a better choice because you could put to mechanical sponges in there and it would be easier to maintain than the canister filter and would also be much faster.

 I filter my 220 gal with Eheim  Stock is Pygo. piraya. Not sure if it comes any messier ... and I have no problems at all, clean the filter still only once per year.
