Thanks for your inputs. I will try not to worry so much about the ph level and I am thinking to go with the lime stone so that way I do not have to keep adding or taking away coral or baking soda. I will also not change out the filter so much. What is HITC? How much limestone should I buy if I plan to put the bogwood back in? I tested the water where I put it in and it dropped from 7.2 to 6.8 overnight. I would like to have a natural looking tank, but not so much where it starts to be a problem cleaning. I need to start enjoying my tank again,it is looking somewhat bare since I took out the wood. Also does lava rocks bring down the ph too? I am not too sure, that is also in a seperate container for me to test the ph,because it is so porus I thought maybe some of the tannins soaked up into it,maybe not. I will test the water and see.

HITH is hole in the head disease, something that is common with oscars and other large fish that either aren't getting good nutrition, or something is wrong with their water. I just noticed that when I have filter pads with carbon in them, my fish tend to get HITH. Without the carbon, they are free of it.

I can't really answer your ph questions seeing as I never test my water and have never had a problem with it.:nilly:
