If ur Congi killed a loach that big then u sir got unlucky lol and got a dangerous bichir .... U best watch what u put it there .... Cause it prob sees anything smaller than it a potential meal ... Most bichirs don't go for something that large ... But that's usually the ones that get big fast lol and grow the largest ... Kinda like the dominant bichir ... Has the alpha genes lol I had a Volta that was the exact same way grew large and fast and was vicious to smaller fish .... But my 17-18" pbb don't even pay attention to smaller fish
Those clown loaches were 5.5" ish.the biggest was closer to 6". Oddly, he's really peaceful toward the other polys. Anything else seems to irritate him. Even the gars get on his nerves sometimes.
I like the way you worded that post..."get on his nerves" lol.I've always thought of the bichirs as pretty much peaceful fish.

Yeah he's got quite a bit of personality. The loaches were really curious about him, I assume because of his size. They would buzz over the top of his head and get as close as they could. He would always cock his head back and stare at them like, 'get the hell away from me.' It was a hilarious dynamic for all parties except for the congicus. Guess he snapped. Its funny because he is the least confrontational fish I have ever owned. He doesn't even care when my Faranah lap nips at him territorially. He just sits there.
gotta be careful with loachs and polys because of the barbs in their skull that can protrude when defending themselves, like you said though, the congi probably just snatched it up since it was too close
