Ok so I ordered some Congicus from a somewhat box store that should arrive tomorrow. They should be in the 7-11 inch range and I asked for two. To make sure I am getting Congicus and not your typically Laps, can someone explain how they are different in appearance? Also if you have both in the same tank could you post a pic of them, seeing them side by side in the same tank can possibly help me with telling the difference. I have seen laps in person and have 4 of them, but have never seen a Congicus in person. Thanks in advance.
:)

laps seem to have alot more pattern to them and a slightly differn't head shape but it can be hard to tell so post a pic if you can

Thanks. Is the head wider and thicker on a Congicus compared to a similar sized Lap?

Thanks saw this after I posted the thread. So as killer fish mentioned the pattern on the lap is more spread out while on the Congicus its more concentrated like a common Endli?

congicus will not show the horizontal bands on head n body, but rather an almost patternless face and only vertical black strips on its body :)

congicus has stripes, whereas Nigerian lapradei doesn't have 'stripes' but rather a dark/light color patterning (the right one in the above link).

On the other hand, Guinea lapradei (the left one in the link) does have 'stripes' but its striping is a lot more irregular than the usual neat, narrow striping on congicus.

Also, typically the lapradei at LFS are the Nigerian kind.

congicus head is wider (body is wider too). and as B.K. said congicus doesn't have the light horizontal lines on and toward the back in the anterior 1/3 to 1/2 of the body. you can see this in the link. their color are different too.

Thank you very much. Vertical black stripes on the body and patterless face.

Thank you. More defind narrow striping, none towards the back end of the body, with a wider body and head. Color is more of a yellow than a brown as well.

Thanks everyone appreciate it. Hopefully I get Congicus and not a Laps tomorrow.

Cant wait for the pics!!!

i think you misunderstood. the vertical strips of the congicus are spread out along the entire body like the stripings on an endli.

what i meant was lapradei has several light horizontal lines in the anterior 1/3 to 1/2 of the body on and near the back. congicus doesn't.

these are the horizontal lines i was referring to. granted they'll be more obvious on a fish with good contrast than on one with faded patterns.
