you sure you want one? they get huge (biggest bichirs, I think). Do some serious research prior to getting bichirs. Otherwise, good luck

:iagree: with Onion01. I'm getting one but thats because I got a huge indoor pond ready for it, they get 39"+ if you didn't know already and at smaller than 24" they get sharp ass teeth. Also their generaly $$$$ and no they are found in the Congo river of Africa like other Endlis. Hope this was useful good luck, but I think your better off with a upper jaw species... Their smaller

yes they get big, but 39" is the MAX RECORDED size, meaning even in the wild, most individuals don't get this big, and practically not in captivity.

on top of that, many factors contribute to their growth rate and size, food, environment, willingness to feed, genetics etc, and the last of which you can't control. And keep in mind they don't keep the same fast growth from 6" to 24", the larger they get, the slower they'll grow, and growth slows drastically once over ~24".

i don't disagree with you that congicus can get big, so like you said, its important to do research and make sure one has proper tank space, but please don't speak as if they get big overnight, or that 39" is the average max, as that is very misleading.
