Hi, I am going to purchase a 150 gallon aquarium within in the next couple of months. I have settled on putting in my 3 Bala's, 3 Tin Foils and a Black Ghost Knife. I was also thinking about putting a school of congo tetras in it. Do you guys think its a good idea, if not do you have a good idea for a smallish schooling fish that is colorful?

Thanks :D

at the end of the day the congos will be the smallest inhabitants of your tank, they don't grow bigger than 4" i believe. so think about it. they are very colorful but may turn out to be feeders soon.

I dont think they will become feeders. Bala's wont touch them, thats for sure. I highly doubt the tinfoils would try to eat a 3 " fish, even if they are 6 or 7" bigger than them. The Black Ghost Knife would pose the only real threat in my opinion, but I'd probably get them at the same time and chances are they would be around the same size. So it would be a while before any real trouble could arise.

It will be fine. Nobody will bother anybody. It just may be pretty busy in the middle of the tank because thats where everybody with the exception of the bgk will be.

Ya i thought they looked pretty awsome and since they get to 4" (well the males at least) they shouldnt be much of a problem with the bigger fish

BGK will leave anything alone that isn't bite size IME with keeping them.

Stock seems kind of boring though, why don't you throw some big cichlids in there? ;)

I love my Congos. They are one of my favorite fish. I keep them in a tetra community tank.

I don't want to put any cichlids in there because of the aggression issue
