Arent spotted perch leopard bush fish? What did you mean by the higher end tetras?
yes same thing for bush fish spotted perch i tend try not to use the word bush fish for different reasons when it comes to African fish discussion lol. Everytime someone says bush fish i keep thinking of fish out in the bushes they collected lol doing african lingo talk ?

When I mention higher end tetras meaning more expensive per fish. I am fortunate to be within a hours drive to Jeff Michaels: he owns: aquatic clarity he gets in hard to find tetras and another favorite spot of mine is half of a hour drive to freshwater exotics but they dont do africans i think only South Americans.

They sell tetras you cannot find anywhere for like 20-30 bucks a pop . Thats what i call “higher end” not the bread and butter fish that people have in stock anywhere. For both places mentioned i am lucky to be within a reasonable driving distance of. Cheers

Are there any african tetras sold for less than $6 each? There just seem to be much cheaper dither fish options that won't get eaten like black skirt tetras or Blue/Red Colombian tetras.
I don't believe there are any that are cheaper. There are 'yellow congos' and Alestes tetras (3-4 spp in the hobby), but IME they are not that common, and are more expensive, not cheaper. I believe regular congo tetras are the only African tetras which are commonly bred in captivity and hence are cheaper. Very nice fish. I have noticed that of late (years), they seem to be weaker (genetics) and somewhat sickly, probably de to mass breeding and inbreeding.
