Connecting filters?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Are you talking about running them in series or paralell to each other? If you are talking about paralell, It can be done with Y fittings and the proper size plumbing. If you mean having one flow into the other, then out to the tank, I think you are asking for problems.

yea theres no real benefits in doing this only potential problems

I fear this will only lead you into some serious problems. For one, you could cause significant cavitation (bubbles that come out of solution under friction, pressure and turbulence) in your impeller and this could lead to failure of the impeller.
Second, the pressure variences could lead to an overpressurization of one filter over the other. This could lead to leaks, and ultimately failure of one or both filters.
Three, if one pump fails for any reason, the other may not have the fortitude to run both, again leading to further failure.

The benifits are that it keep the bacteria alive in the xp 2. i have done it before with a 2128 pumping through a 2026 with no issues at all. I wouldnt do the smaller pump first as you may stall the first pump, this could lead to motor failure, but not if you run the bigger pump through the smaller pump
