Connecting filters?

Can you run the outputs together without any problems. I just don't want 3 different spray bars. Probualy a 2262 with a 2217 connected.

I was wanting to run them in a series. But some of you kinda verified my fear that one pump may overheat the other. But I am curious about this parallel filtering? Is there any problem with back pressure in that kind of set up, being that the two pumps have different flow rates? Also does that mean one output and two intake?

Oh, the plan was to just have twice the available bio filtration. Got a new discus tank and have an extra xp2.

i would just leave them seperate...

The only benefit to running them parellel would be less clutter in the tank.
Flow rates wont matter, as long as you use hoses with a large enough diameter. What you should do is take the I.D. measurements of the hoses of each filter and add them together. This is the minimum of the plumbing size you should use.

Example: Both filters have an inlet size of 3/4 of an inch. This means you will need a 1 1/2 inch inlet hose. Y that hose off to two 3/4 inch hoses and run one to each filter. Same with outlet.

With this setup, you can run 2 filters without 2 sets of plumbing in the tank.
