Connecting tanks?? anyone seen this or done it?

I saw this on youtube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0Gh0tdsgVwo it looks really freakin cool, and i would love to hear if anyone has seen it in person, or done it?
They include the links to instructions, but i havent read them yet, just figured i'd share the link and see what people think.
So anyway, any thoughts?
 
I've seen custom tanks with cyclinders connecting them on the sides which was pretty cool. I didn't read the directions either, but this application looks like an eyesore in my opinion.
 
i did this, but i didn't put too much effort into it. I had a betta and a gold gourami (at separate times) that would go back and forth through the tanks. I also kept platties in the there but they never seemed to figure out how to go from one side to the other. Here are a few pictures:

I have seen it done with the tubes before which is cool.
They had a couple different applications on the sight, one of which was ugly as sin IMO (the one with the tanks corners meeting), the other with them side by side i thought would look pretty cool if were done with a lil more care (joints looked horrible lol) and decorated right.
I was thinking of trying it with a couple 10 gallons just as an expirement next time i have a lil extra cash or can find enough scrap acrylic, and see how it goes. Assuming i figure out the physics of it.
As i said I didnt take the time to read any of the directions, but it seems to me it would work on a vacuum set up...Fill the 2 bottom tanks past the bottom of the top tank, then pump the air out of the top one and it would suck the water into the top one, and i assume if sealed well, would hold the vacuum to support the water in the top tank once the pump was removed....
At lease that works in my mind, but then I've said that one before lmao

how did you know that was the lyrics to nightman? of course it is! Just got done watching the anti-social network episode. Actually i keep looking at my avatar thinking that no one, not even die hard fans would know what it is and that i should change it.

it was really easy to do. a friend donated two ten gallon tanks and i purchased the acrylic tube. I actually am still using the tube as a clear cave in my 240 gallon tank. All you need to do is siphon all the air out which will suck up the water from the two tanks.

The scary thing for me is that my tube was 6 inches round and 6 feet long. So it held a large volume of water and was fairly heavy. I was a little concerned it would cause too much stress being held up by the side of the 10 gallon tanks.
 
I figured it would work that way, and i would definately have been concerned about the weight on the tank sides on a 10 gallons, but obviously it worked lol.
I think im going to try doing this top tank idea with a couple 10 gallons when i get a chance. i have the tanks sitting around, i just gotta find some acrylic sheets, or then again maybe ill try it with glass instead..theres a guy that works at one of the glass places here that gives me oddball pieces from time to time.

I kind of recognized it from the show and somehow fully understood the spider inside my dreams part in your avatar ha.
