Cons batch 1

Nice, what I do is I keep 3 pairs that are around 2" each in separate 20 gal tanks. I have grow out tanks of 10 gals with sponge filters (don't want to chew up your fry) and after a month they go into a heavily planted community grow out tank. Having several tanks to separate them at different stages of life stream lines the process of breeding them. At 1month old they won't be eaten by the slightly larger convicts ~1/2"-3/4" and once their free swimming they can go into a ten gal and live on their own eating crushed flake. I plan to make a perpetual brine shrimp "reactor" I've been learning about maintenance of such a system for a while now.

Goodluck have fun!

I'm breeding convicts and I was wondering WHEN or IF I'm supposed to remove the mother or father?

Your suppose to move the fry not the parents. If you move the parents every time they spawn you could run into problems with their bond breaking. Most move the fry at different times. Some move the fry just before they hatch into a hatching/grow out tank. Some people just wait till they are about two weeks to a month. It's really your call if you want them to spawn continually just remove them every two weeks.
