cons bred.... now what on earth do i do??

Were they successfully breeding in the one aquarium?

...Doubt it.

I've actually had up to 6 pairs breeding in one tank... since there is no mention of tank size it's hard to doubt the OP when you don't have all the information... if they have a solid 2' between nests then the agression from nest to nest is usually much less however there is always the risk of some losses

To answer the OP's question regarding removing the fry... Most of us that raise fry often remove the parents to a seperate tank where they will usually... "get their freak on" again ... keeps you busy with fry and not to mention tanks LOL

If you feel more comfortable moving the fry then you could always siphon them out OR use a net...either will work but if you miss some (as you can expect it's easy to do) then the parents might not breed again as they will try to take care of the remaining fry... or they might kill them and breed again. Usually the more your pairs mate the less likely they are to kill the fry... but it happens some times

Well said.

30 gallon tank, the other pair is setting up a nest. the third female is scared Shi*less and always floating near the filter to stay out of the way

should i take out the third female? also the other pair is now breeding too... what should i do about the other fry in there or are they ok?

Fry will "usually" be ok... if you watch them long enough you will actually see the fry switch nests sometimes.

It really depends on the parents and their comfort level with the other pair... if it's a 30 Gallon tank it is either 24" long or 36" long ... if it's the 36" then I wouldn't worry to much about the parents getting in eachothers way... that 3rd female however will be best off in another tank... she will take ALOT of abuse but will most prop take out a bunch of fry since she doesn't have any of her own she isn't in the mothering mood, not to mention if you were getting the crap kicked out of you by everyone in the tank you'd be alittle Pissed off to

if the male is smaller than the female he willed get bullied even tho they are a pair
