I really don't know, I am just comparing his pics to my fish really. But I suspected mine of it before I saw his. They show a bit of red gold where they shouldn't when the light hits them just right.

So when are you getting them? Do you have any pics of yours from the seller?

If there are some low grade faders in the 15 I'm getting that will tell us something. I doubt they'd sell the nicer faders as just plain old sb green texas, but lower grades maybe.

His pics are bad but they were the last time and he assures me they're coming from the same dealer. Sorry I should mention I've bought some of these from him before.

He is getting them this coming Monday, I should get them soon thereafter.

i only raised one baby, the one you see in the pics above thats him with his mother he is as big as her now, the rest died in an amonia spike, he was the shortest one, I sold the father. I like your plan to breed some nice carpintis blood in , and then back to the short bodies, ive thought of it myself, also...texas' can breed very very small and young ,which helps the process. I suspect they are a cross to a Parrot as well, also i have seen parrots (red ) with spots online, as well as short body red texas' with varried quality, they are pretty cool....cant wait to see your pics...if i ever find a really nice texas I will try to cross it into my remaining SB Tex's as well, but they dont pop up too often around here, an escondido would be perfect...I also have my SB fader female with Kok growing out that I would like to cross maybe with a SYN that im also growing out who even at a couple inches has incredible colors....so we shall see how they mature over the winter and what happens!

I've had good luck with quite a few fish in the past, mostly cichlids and livebearers. However at the moment the only luck I'm having is with the equivilant of a livebearer lol. Shrimp are egglayers but you'd swear they just poop them out like like a guppy does!
