Considering a Clown Knife

Has anyone kept one with Oscars, Severums, JD's, Firemouths, Nics, Geos, Polypterus and BN plecs?

To go in a 6x2x2.

I'd provide several hiding places as I have read they are largely nocturnal.

i have had mine with bn plecos and polys and for a short time a firemouth it did fine with all of those

My buddy had one with an oscar and they were about the same size around 9" and they're fine together. They get a little aggresive during feeding but they worked well together.

Excellent stuff. My O is about 9 1/2" at the moment but expecting a bit of a growth spurt in the new tank. Not sure what size Clown I'd be looking at...

you just need to remember eventually it will be gigantic mine is about 8 inches with a RTCxTSN hybrid and a lima shovelnose and they seem to coexist very well bu before that he was with african cichlids and he didnt get bothered at all

Every fish has a different personality, so there may be some aggression. I have kept a CK with Oscars, JDs, Polys, and Plecos before. The JD was kind of a punk and would do the hit and run thing with the CK, some scaring, but no real damage.

yea that is true my Africans never even acknowledged him being there until is was time to eat and then they hid till he finished eating.

How quickly do they grow? Also are they quite messy? I've read they tend to get between 18-24" in home aquariums.

i got mine at 4 or 5 inches in January and it is 8 or 9 inches now. the only time mine is ever messy is when it eats when it spits feeders out and eats them again little fish bits get all over but its not the bad.

Just wondering about the impact on the bioload in the tank. It has 2 x FX5's and a 50% w/c every week.

I take it you don't have to give them feeders. What sort of pellets will they take? I have Hikari Carnivore for my polys already, and they also love Cichlid Gold.
