Considering a puffer

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Thats fair enough, but each puffer has its own personality...

For example, most people will say Fahaka's kill any and all tank mates on sight... but mine lives happily with a yellow lab chiclid and a chocolate pleco for the last 2+ years...

Although i've done it, i still wouldn't tell people to replicate my methods just because it worked for me... since i've heard stories of puffers turning at any given time...

Now with MBU, i've heard of MBU's attacking other fish, and even picking on rays, because their eyes look like snails...

So yes, it may work, but at the same time, you always have to consider the fact that any fish can turn aggressive if they want to, and with fish like puffers, their teeth can do a lot of damage which is why i prefer to warn people about it, rather than telling them to go for it without knowing possible consequences...

Completely agree, all fish should not be compiled together in a general acquisition based upon a few personal experiences.

Every fish is different.

but to add to the thread.

Everyone told me I couldn't keep a Fahaka with my tropheus due to the fahaka's aggression and a day after putting him in after qt'ing and making sure it's healthy and clean my tropheus shredded the guy.

Now with my MBU I was told the same and he swims along side with my tropheus with no problems and is living with 3 colonies of other fish, plecos and a dwarf giraffe cat with zero problems thus far but he has been kept well fed.
