I can never recommend a fh in a community tank. Maybe with non cichlids but definately won't work with weak cichlids like jd and green terrors.

If this FH lives up to the reputation, then he's going in my 240 with the arowana, wolf fish, and tiger pike. Aggression is commonplace in that tank.
I will admit that I should have read up more on the beanie prior to purchase. Nothing but horror stories about that fish on this board. They are gorgeous though.
The tank these guys are going in (because I've already ordered the fish) is a 144 gallon 1/2 circle: 5' at the widest; 30" tall; with a radius of 36" (I believe). Assuming we reach the point where the JD and the GT have to be removed, do you think there's enough space in this tank to create "homes" for each fish: a sort of area they could claim as their own to minimize aggression?

Fish shipped today! Sadly, but perhaps for the best, the JD and the GT were out of stock and not shipped. I was immediately refunded, so I'm not terribly upset. Those two were going to be the slowest growers anyway right?
Just out of curiosity, how would you compare the growth rate of a Flowerhorn to that of an Oscar? I know the tank is a powder keg as is, but I haven't raised an Oscar from a small size since I was VERY young. This seems like a decent opportunity to do so.

About the same, expect an inch a month. Oscar and fh are not at all compatible. Oscars are slow and clumsy and weak. The flowerhorn is going to notice that immediately and be on him until the Oscar is dead. It doesn't matter how large your tank is.
Well, everyone seems to be getting along fine for now, granted they are all around 2" long so that's not saying much. They seem to be beating up on the 2 medium comets I had in the tank to keep it cycled. While I haven't witnessed any aggression, the comets both have mysteriously damaged tail fins.
Nightly feedings are a two course meal. First course is a very small cichlid pellet, followed about 30 minutes later by a frozen treat: 3 day cycle of blood worms; brind shrimp; and vegetable mix. The brine shrimp seems to be the least popular and I may replace it with frozen daphnia or something else.
Obviously, no real growth to report since it's only been a week. To be honest, I'm not sure which is the FH, which is the Beani, and which is the Texas at this point. The only guy I can id for sure is the Polleni.

I have to sadly concur with this, FH's are quite insane
