Considering an Eheim 2180

I wonder why your Marineland is so loud -- we have 3 of their canisters, and hear nothing! Perhaps there's something going on -- you could call their customer service number and ask them for ideas as to what could be wrong. They'll send you new parts if you need it.

I have 2 of the c-530's. One is in service the other is in the garage. I called Marineland on the first one because of noise. They asked about the impeller and we exchanged a few more emails. They sent a complete new filter which I setup and installed back on the 180g. It's running and doing a fine job, it's just noisy. It's a little quieter than the first one but still very noisy. The 180g is in the living room. When I unplug the C-530 it gets fairly quiet in there except for the tanks with top filters. On those you just hear the water.

Just to close this one, I picked up a Fluval FX5 to replace the Marineland. I figured this was the smart move....
