im considering changing my 180 to a discus tank ive been doing a lot of research on these fish and i believe i can do it....one question that i couldnt get answered---the discus school im considering starting with is about 5-6" can i keep them with a paroon and silver aro both are very peaceful both about 8-10" and a freshwater teacup ray about 5inches accross

Nope keep discus with a school of small fish such as neons and cardinals and some corydoras catfish. Not with any remotly big fish.

I've seen several threads of Aro owners who also keep discus in the same tank although I do not know what a paroon is. Do a search here or on simply discus. You find others who have.

I have a 100g (~387L) Discus tank with some cardinal tetras, rasboras, corys, some blue rams and a couple bristlenose. Though they are cichlids, discus are timid, and at the very least will not be able to compete for food with the larger fish. Not to mention this would be a big form of stress for them. I think they would eventually be eaten. A Discus tank is best left at that. A Discus tank.
