I'm wanting some kind of freshwater stingray and don't know much about how to care for them besides what a little research has told me. So if anyone knows about them then please tell me if they are or aren't for me.

I have a 200 gallon tank (7x2x2) with a tiger Oscar, two red belly pacu, silver arowana, tiger shovelnose catfish, clown knife, and florida gar.
I also have a 1200 gallon pond (8'circle'x3) which is where a lot of the fish in the 200 will eventually go.
Both have a fine white sand bottom and almost all (95%) open space.

Is this ok for any rays?

I also want to know if I need to worry about me or the other fish being stung and what kind of aggression I'm looking at with the other tank mates and the ray. And what Lind of ray, if any, is best for me in this situation.

And if you don't mind, please share some of the other info and personal experiences you have with these gorgeous fish.

That's what I've heard. Do you know why they are illegal? And what would happen if you did have them here? Because I may be able to get one as long as you don't really get in trouble for them

Good thing I live out in the country then. Once I actually have the fish I'm not worried about it really. It's just getting it here that would be the problem. Is there any reason for them to be illegal, or is it just that they're new to the aquarium world still and haven't been legalized yet?

If you acquired one I'd not boast about it for one. i have no idea what the reason is for them being illegal. I can understand the fears about snakehead to an extent, but rays, I dont know. Maybe you can google that? Either way, some of your stock might stress out a ray. Oscars can be annoying, if the clown is small he can be eaten. Your tankload is also rather heavy, what were you planning to move? Pacu get huge, even that pond is small for the two. Won't stop them from getting big.

Pretty much everything that gets too big is being moved. The pacus will be thrown into a larger natural pond on our property which is huge. About 90'x40'x10. They'll do fine in there. I do have plans for all the fish though. And yes the Oscar is annoying, which is why it'll be going straight into the pond once the weather heats up lol

When it is cold how do you plan on fishing them out?
I'd advise against looking for a ray. You never know who the sellers actually are. A friend of mine got busted that way for attempting to purchase a leo. The fine was outrageous.
