I used to make water in house with such low KH of 1-2 degrees (and low GH too), which also means puny buffering reserve, and I lost some fish due to what I think was pH instability / swings. In any case, I couldn't explain it in other ways but it could have been merely my limitation / ignorance. My pH was 7-7.5.
