Im stumped.
can strictly head/muscle pain be viral?

Ive had a killer headache for the last three day that starts at the base of my skull on the left side only and radiates up my head into my forehead and down behind my eye and ear and even my upper jaw all on only the left side.

Its brutal, it hurts so bad I feel like my eye is drooping (its not) and my neck on that side is hard as rock and all knotted up. Its keeping me from sleeping and my migraine/tension headache meds aren't having any effect on it at all.

I assumed it was from working an intense 70 hour week at the bar and over stressing my body.

But then this afternoon I picked my son up from school and his teacher said he complained of his neck hurting a few times
I sort of figured he had heard me complaining in the last day or two and was pretending ;)

He complained about it more and more as the night went on and then started saying his head hurt. I opted for a warm bath and an early night to bed for him as I knew he was tired and cranky.

But he just now woke up crying because he hurt so I gave him some tylenol.

no fever or any other problems and it isn't stiff, he has full range of motion so I dont feel its an emergency.

If he is still hurting tomorow I will call the doctor.

But im perplexed,
first of all this is the weirdest headache I have ever had.......and why on earth would a 7 yr old suddenly start having the same headache!!

Mono?

dono, but i've been having insane headaches behind my eyes, spreading towards my temples lately, also bloodshot eyes

It could be sinus for both of you.. maybe air quality isn't good... i would say that neck pain in general could be so many things that include eye strain, tension, sinus, blood pressure ...the list goes on and on... so if it does not go away definitly see a doctor for both of you..

It definitely sounds like a sinus infection to me... especially with the pain on the one side, above your eye, etc. That is where your sinus cavities are. I had a wicked one for like 2 weeks, and it was insane... so much pressure and pain, more so when I bent down. Are your lymph nodes or tonsils up? Go to the doctor, he'll probably give you one of those nasal spray antibiotics. Sinus infections can take time to clear up, so go ASAP and get it over with!

I live with constant sinus pain and infections. Its so miserable. :(

The only time I have relief is if I'm on the beach facing the ocean and the salty air clears it up. That is why I hope one day I can move near the water!

i just heard on Paul Harvey news..that pure honey kills the germs associated with sinus infections... so just wanted to pass that on...it is worth a try..

funny i had the same exact thing early this week....... but got it massaged out.........

For the kids sake go get a proper diagnosis. It may be nothing serious. Then you know.
Might be serious, like meningitis, then you need treatment NOW or you will both die.
There are many possible causes. Including unrelated physical injury. But if it is viral you want to know which virus.
Even if the DR. tells you it is nothing it is not a wast of time. Because then you will know you can relax.
