Continuous drip system for fresh water tanks.

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Only thing I'm wondering, unless pulling 50% out at a time, the drip system dropping at the same rate spread out over the month vs 4 times a month may not yield the same water change benefits

Correct, you’re not stressing the fish as much for sure.

I use to test my water weekly and slightly tweak more or less water as needed. Then I started testing monthly, now I may test 3 to 4 times a year just to make sure everything is going okay. The summer months I increase the water because my temps go up to 85. The winter I let them drop to 75 so less water is needed because the fish don't eat as much.

I have it all set up. I bought two drip emitters. One is 12gp day the other 24 gpd. The flow regulator is 40 gpd. I am testing now with 12gpd. So far the water temperature 2 days in is completely unchanged. Actually it is more stable now (an unintended consequence). I will assume that in the summer, the cold water entering will help in reverse. I am well heated w 3 fluval e300's in the tank and a 300w visi in the sump.

The tank is about 240 gallons volume, so I am curretly changing 100% of the tank volume every 20 days (less the dilution effect which is significant).

I am going to try the 24gpd emitter after week of stable temps
and some testing of waetr paramteters. This is where ld like to be goin forward.
I wll be turning the full volume every 10 days...

I thnk I need to drill a bulkhead a little lower in my sump where i have the waste pipe drain. I have a profelex aqueon sump. The acrylic is a bit thin and i am not comfortble with the high water level all the time in it.

Not to be negative... but the tank looks filthy and cloudy. You said most parts of the hobby were taken away for you but yet you don't do water tests? Do you keep track of how many fish have died? Sorry if you answered these in the previous 10 pages.
