I was reminded have this contraption i have hanging on the sump, because with all the rains lately my sump is almost constanry overflowing.

I made use of it a lot when had 20 tanks in the US, and would loose track of time when doing water changes, and overflow sumps onto the floor, so built a few and hung them over buckets, to catch water until realizing my memory lapse.
These days because the sump is in the garden, its no big deal, but best to wick the water a bit away from the blocks the sump is sitting on.
It also comes in hardy during power outages when the sump get full.
