When I tell people I legally catch and sell fish they get mad. They don't like how I would take from the environment especially without giving back. But they don't realize that People hunt and don't give back to the environment. And Lots of aquarium fish are wild caught. Not that I won't give back to the environment, but I feel like people don't think to much before they speak. Just like how an animal rights activists eat plants from farms that take habitat from the wildlife and kill all the animals on there fields.

If u have permits to collect and sell or a fishing license (not sure on ur states laws on which u need) then u are giving back lol… that money goes towards conservation, dnr, the state, etc…

People who hunt and fish also pay to do so…

Hmmmm...why exactly are they getting mad and whats your version of legal? I sure hope its not cyanide fishing...

Careful comparing hunting to whatever youre doing. Thats a spectrum. I hunt responsibly and ethically with conservation, not killing, in mind. Dog hunters give the rest of us a bad name.

I just searched up cyanide fishing and that's harsh. Just buy pole whenever I go on a fishing trip. I'm not against hunting. But I know some bad hunters in my town.

I guess I didn't think of permits/licenses that way. I just know some bad hunters near me. Some people near me illegally hunt. But yeah I have a permit and a fishing license so I guess I'm giving back.

Permits are a scam and government overreach

Its not the collecting part that bothers me its the nature of the persons need to criticize someone else for making a living. People live off what the seas have to offer its no different on the land (like tree logging or gold mining) or in your situation collecting here and there. Its hard honest work. No one should be criticized for working. Doing it the legal way means you are the solution and/or part of the puzzle for a successful outcome.

I gave back to the environment twice today and I'm a better man for it.

As long as you're collecting and selling ethically an xlnt solution would be to quit listening to detractors. There will always be a goofball close enough that doesn't use their tongue for good. Life is better when you tune out the clowns.

I believe it was Mr. Jimmy Buffett that said his father was losing his hearing but it didn't matter because the old boot didn't care what most had to say anyway. I'd bet a nickel he could hear pretty good.

Tell them you farm your fish.
License pays for habitat conservation, so by contributing your $$, you pay for the natural production.
