my decision will have to be the next time i walk into my lfs, its on of the managers! he said it is tame..

I have a sun conure. I have had her for over 20+ years. She is a captive hand raised bird. These are imprinted on humans and are so much more friendly & a joy to have.
The bird is a family member and is very spoiled.
I am going to give you the negative side so you know what you are getting yourself into. if you can look past some of these negative things then may be the conure is a good pet for you.
Conure as a species, are loud birds, but most people do not keep parrots because they are quiet.
Before you commit to get the bird I would try to find out :
Hand raised or wild caught.
What kind of conure is it? Some conures breeds are more nosier than others.
History of the bird and why it being given away.
Birds are messy & throw seeds and feathers every where. Good quality seed & or pellets are expensive especially when you see it all over your home and not in the seed dish!
You will need to give the bird fresh water each day, pellets, seeds and feed the bird cut up veggies & fruits.
Cage needs to be away from sunny hot windows in summer and drafty areas.
Warining.
Some birds are psychotic because of the trauma they had before you had them and you will beg someone to take it away.
