I'm not too worried about the ghetto factor. You should see the 5 foot tall video projector I made out of MDF and cardboard haha.

LOL!! I made one out of cardboard, a TFT panel, and an old school overhead projector.....haha

Yours is nicer than mine :D

Nice, you've even got OSB frames. +1 ghetto factor ;) You should check out the Lumeblab forums if you ever want to rework that design a little :P I'm in the middle of the same project myself.

Get a chest freezer instead of a fridge as they are normally waterproof, and would be more stable as they are the right way up... Some cheap fridges are not water proof cause of the cheap fixture they use for the lights...

I am toying with the possibility of using a chest freezer as a sump for a native marine/brackish tank...the water temp here is about four degrees Centigrade. I figure a reasonable flow rate, freezer set to minimum and a large display volume = ...:headbang2

did you actually use a fridge to make an aquarium?

Yep, and a pond (sort of). All outside. It was 100g tank(?) and a 47g sump. One had a window and 2 were buried hald in the ground.

ok .. gonna need pics on that to ... LOL

You know the drill Dr. Joe... Pics or it doesn't exist! LOL

No, actually the drill is I post pix and I get sued for breach of contract from the client and loose future clients. I have had to threaten to post pix to get a couple to pay...and we reached a mutually acceptable arrangement... they payed.

So imagine the most beautiful large, white refrigerator laying on its back in the backyard with a 18" x 30" hole cut in the side and glass siliconed in from the inside. Still brings a tear to the eye. I left the doors on and cut the shelves out with a sawsall. Always wanted to do this with a side by side for more bio-area :D.

Refrigerators are very useful things, I've used them for biological & environmental chambers, chillers, and of course made my friends beerators and kegerators.

Dr Joe

.

Dr Joe...You is THE man!

you could flip it on its back and it could be a pond but if you want to keep the door onit you cold keep some arowana in it...lol
