Converting a reptile tank to a freshwater tank?

I heard the same thing about reptile tanks. Supposedly the glass is thinner because the tank is only filled at the most half-way. But, you have a 10 gallon one so the glass might be the same thickness because it is a small tank. Also, are you sure it's a reptile tank and not just a 10 gallon fish tank used for reptiles?
