converting mollies to salt

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
idk, but I remember this one place that had a Flower horn coverted to live in salt water. They said the process took at least 6 month or more. They have to do it slowly by adding current percentage of salt water at a time.. idk about mollie tho..

Dripping saltwater in slowly for 24 hours would be good enough...I just dumped mine in half strength sw and then after 3 hours put them in full sw...

Not really my business but, why would you want a saltwater mollie?

they are usually used as feeder fish. in the case of sharks or rays, they are used to get a feeding response out of newly acclimated fishes.

Why would you bother to acclimatize feeders?

so that they would live longer in the tank...

You can probably acclimate them over a couple of hours. I did it with guppies. The only ting you want to consider is dripping them very slowly, then once you get them in SW, gut feed them nothing but marine flakes.

i bought some mollies out of a brackish tank once and it only took about 4 hours to acclimate them

i got some from fresh and it took over a day

if possible but them from a brackish system..

as an aside, i've found that they tend to last longer and do better in brackish/marine tanks than in my FW ones...
