converting mollies to salt

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Actually, mollies can tolerate SW just fine. I intended to feed my extra black mollies to lionfish before but the lionfish somehow could not catch them and the mollies lasted two years until I decided to quit SW.

as an aside, i've found that they tend to last longer and do better in brackish/marine tanks than in my FW ones...
:iagree: BIGgourami, did yours breed in SW? I never observed my mollies to breed at all in SW when I had them there. Maybe I'm just not so observant.:screwy:

i usually make a point to buy all females ;)

I'm sure they breed fine. I've seen baby guppies in my tank, however they don't last more than a couple of days due to getting eaten or sucked up by the powerhead.

i had a a yellow molly in my nano reef for a while until it jumped and it only took me about an hour to do it. He lasted about 6 months.

yeah i imagine breeding is no hard task for these horndogs

Mine had babies within 3 days of being in SW. I dripped over in a day. Was unaware of them breeding altogether, till I saw a baby just sitting on the bottom, it was gone the next day.

to answer a couple of questions that have been asked in this thread

why saltwater mollies.. they munch on algea, they provide a constant steam of food for some fish( breeding fools)

do they breed in salt water..yeap faster than rabbits on land

they actually live longer and are way healthier in saltwater than fresh and thier colors are more vibrant in salt than fresh

i just drip like i would any saltwater fish and there you go they are now converted..but i have not bought any in a long time..my sump(s) have many mollies that eat the food ect that flows down the overflow..

if you keep a prego female in a seahorse tank the seahorses will suck the babies up the second they pop out..
