Firstly, I know there's been countless topics on how mean these guys are, so I apologize.

The other day I pikced up a Honduran Red Point Convict from my LFS to add to my 30 gal. with my other convict. At first, the old convict seemed fine with the new one, his rich coloration had come back and he was swimming much more. Now, the HRP cowers at the top of the tank behind my heater, or wedged behind a piece of driftwood all day, except during feeding. As soon as he comes out, the old con chasees him violently all over the tank until he hides. While this is going on the HRP loses almost all of his/her coloration and the old con, gets very dark in color...

So now I'm debating on whether to bring the HRP back to the fish store, or to give it a few more days.

Has anyone else had a simillar experience to mine? I'd greatly appreciate any advice I can get :)

get them a bigger tank i know you can keep 2 cons in a 30g BUT this is a breeding pair i dont think yours is....?? i suggest get rid of one or better still get a bigger tank??

Yes I'm not too sure on how to sex the HRPs, as mine is only 1.5" but from what I can gather, it's a male.

there no such thing as a honduran redpoint convict, they are both different species, i keep both hrp and convicts and convicts are so much more aggresive, personly i would remove one, if they do breed no one will take the fry from you as they are hybrids

Too bad, I really like the hrp, but I don't want him to suffer. And htis is probablly a noob question but, why is it no one would want the hybrid fry?

Because it takes away from "normal" healthy fish....(I love hybrids..)

Well thank you for the help everyone, I just returned him to the lfs, I wish they could've just gotten along to begin with! >.<
