Convict Aquarium? random thought of the day.

That works, but I've had different experience with that here. I have a ~6o or 70 gallon (4x2x3) Convict cichlid colony.
First, I've never had convicts Kill their own children after having another set. Even in a 10 gallon tank. They just use the other sides. This might happen in reasonably bare tanks though. What usually happens to the babies is that the bigger ones will get bigger and bully the little ones, continually outcompeting them until there's just a few left. This happens in small spaces and I guess the little ones die or are eaten by catfish. (synodontis clean up). I've never seen a larger cichlid eat a smaller cichlid, I keep baby convicts with my flowerhorn because its interesting.

For my colony, I use an enormous pile of pipes and broken pottery, they lay eggs in the
pipes if they're the right size. Whats cool about this is you can just take the pipes out if you want to raise their eggs. I use them as feeders so Im trying this right now.

how many convicts do you have in your tank?

what kind of pipes? pvc? do you remove the parents as well or just the eggs?

Kalied u kept a breeding pair of convicts in a 10g?
