They aren't hard and fast rules. Some females get long finnage and some males get color. With four cons, there's a really good chance you'll get a pair.

those 2 in those pictures up there are the ones im banking on, i just dont think they would act they way they do towards eachother if they werent "paired" up. would 2 males or 2 females act like that?

They do get confused. Or are we supposed to say it's genetic, now? How PC is fish gender identity these days? Anyway, if they try a few times and all the eggs are sterile, you'll have to change something. For now, give them a few days.

Well Thanks to everyone for all the help, my smaller 2 paired up the other day and about 10 minutes ago i noticed that the back of their flower pot is wrapped up in eggs. For the past week ive had the temp at about 80 and ive been feeding them their usual cichlid sticks along with some red worms, and nightcrawlers. Hopefully soon I'll have some lil cons running around. Thanks again!
Here's a pic, quite blurry, taken with phone. The darker part of the pot at the upper left hand corner around the front of the females head is the eggs.

Now I wait:popcorn:

in cons are like ppl when choosing mates. its usually the female who chooses a mate an if she dont like the males you put with her she might kill them "ive went threw 3 males before i got a breeding pair"
