Convict breeding

Won't even need to be that big to breed mainly just look for the females. So long as they have their pink spot there ready to get busy.

I just found convict eggs in my piranha tank myself... That will be intresting.

My convicts breed soo often that I've stopped pulling the fry out of the tank. While typing this I have a 10g with about 20 fingernail sized fry in. As said, the female will have a pink/gold belly and, mine has a terrific green stripe going down the upper/lower dorsal fins. Simply beautiful when their in season.

About how old are they when they start to turn blue? Mine just turned a month old and I keep putting off releasing to be eaten because I think of another goal/stage to get them to.

I think they need to be about 2 inches long before they start breeding? I've had my pair for about 2 years and they've been breeding about the last year and a half. My present fry are about 3 months old and range between a quarter inch and 3 quarters of an inch with their stripes becoming pronounced in the last month.
