Convict Breeding

I have 4 bristlenoses in there, along with the spare female. :P

Last night/early morning the female laid a bunch of eggs, but was immediately eaten by the male. >.<

So I assume the female was just really close to egg laying when she was skittish. Anyways well guess this batch failed, hopefully the male'll learn for the next one. :/
 
It happens. Often actually. In large enough tank the male will go between females but its and added stress. What size tank are they in? The male can turn on the female at this point so you want her to have space for escape or somewhere to hide if you see to much bullying you might have to remove her. And usually you can see the males tube down also the closer they are to spawning. this is the case with many sa/ca cichlids but with smaller fish it might be harder to spot. Your female might have been skittish cause she was about to lay or had eggs.
