so today i went to the lps and bought 3 convicts $21 for all 3, but anyways i looked in the display tank they were in and saw some fry so i picked the ones that were "protecting" special areas. i asked the pet store emploee if there was any eggs in the tank cause i really didnt want to take them away from unhatched eggs and he said no. i just put them in the tank (20 gallons) and they are following each other manly the 2 girls are following the male. well from the best of my knowledge there is 2 females and 1 male, the people at the pet store know nothing about how to tell there sex. they have been observing the tank and swimming in circles just to see whats around them ill post some pics of them soon most likely before i go to bed!

Nice job on a pick-up, but I think unless Convicts are rare in your neck of the woods, that $21 for 3 Convicts is waaay over priced. I could buy 21 Convicts for $21 here!

You should have paid maybe $4.00 each MAX !!! I guess i should ask how big are they???

um not even that big haha ones less that 1 inch, ones maybe 1 1/2 inches, and ones probly 2 1/2 inches but i dont know i cant really measure them ill try to get pics up soon my camera phone sucks so i wont put them up its a lil blury

I wish you were here in seattle, i had a whole 20 gallon filled with the little guys and couldn't even give them away on CL or anywhere. They just ended up as feeders because i needed the tank space.

My new 7 inch Jardini and a 14" Lima shovel nose, they didn't last long with the lima!! LOL

You can feed Convicts under 2'' to almost any fully grown CA Cichlid. =P My LFS has taken some of my Convict fry to feed their store pet, a quickly growing Dovii.

lol im gonna keep what i can then feed the rest to my red belly piranhas. is t wrong to rebreed the babies and if not how long does it take till they can breed like 5 months?
