Maybe my male convict is just stress and that cause the black stripes to fade. what do you guys think?

The male had black stripes this morning but when i checked it now, It faded away again.

edit: how big should they be to begin mating?

its a male thats for sure, looks like a regaler convict to me. maybe the con pairents came from a diff lake then normal? not sure but still looks good
