Convict Cichlid's are the meanest fish ever.

Convicts are not even remotley agressive...just territorial, I was given two by a friend one that was a 6" male and another a 1" baby as a temporary thing.

My tank at the time had 2 Adult angels, Festivums and Severums.

The convict although kept the fish away by chasing never injured anything and when he got into a squabble he would come off worse everytime.

My angels shredded the big guys fins the first day he was in there.

he took them back after 3 months...but still, never any problems

^ But don't you have to be "aggressive" to be "territorial"? How else will you defend a territory when you're the size of a convict?

All my Con's were and are aggressive but simply don't have much to work with compared to predatory cichlids.

Several years ago i had a pair of breeding Con's and a pair of breeding Salvini in a 55gal,they each claimed oposite ends of the tank but when the fry became free swimming the Convict fry disappeared along with finage and scales from the adult Con's.

All cichlids are aggressive when guarding fry.Try putting your con in with a pair of dovii gaurding eggs or fry?:screwy:

Yea im gonna agree........my Jags eat convicts, literally. No matter how big they are. They pick them apart if they cant swallow them whole.

Well, I geuss you picked out a weak convict, my convict is so mean, he doesn't care how big, the fish are in his tank...he will kill it. When he was 4 inches, he lived with a 9 inch red devil(which now is in a 90 gal), he wopped that devil back n forth, side to side, until the devil nearly passed out.....plus the people who own jag's well let me tell you what, Jag's are territorial most of the time, the reason why you think the jag is the most aggressive, is because of it's size, so if all fish were convict size or an inch or two bigger, the CON would dominate the tank...

I find that my con's are extremely timid! So far the two are living in a 14g together, both still roughly an inch in size.

The previous pair I had were the same - I had them in the 120 and instead of rocking the tank one got eaten.

ROTFL your lying so bad, a RD at 2" would tear up a adult convict.
