convict cichlids

I've always heard they had some nasty attitudes lol. Always loved how they look tho. Same with convicts but I got sick and tired of those lil psycho's after my last one (Lokir) past away lol. Closest I've ever gotten to that kind of aggresion again was with Flowerhorns and Texas cichlids, still psychotic fish in their own right but not as much as convicts are.
My leporinus has the most kills under his belt of all the fish I have, but the convict is crazy. When it was breeding, it went from bottom of the totem pole straight to the dominant position. She is 2.5 inches and the leporinus is 8.
That leporinus is nice. So true about them, they can be killers. Think cons can handle them though. I had a 10” leporinus that killed itself by getting spooked and hitting the glass as high speed.
They are the only fish that I think kills for sport...mine has never eaten a victim.
Craziest part is mine is disabled. I used to keep him with a red belly piranha. The lep lost an eye and finnage (fins are all better now), and probably took some head damage (I think that the only part of the brain damaged was the part where he feels compassion). One day I found the piranha dead without a scratch on him. I think the lep scared it into swimming headfirst into the glass.
Doesn’t take crap from anyone now, despite the blood parrot’s best efforts.
Very bad attitude. Pretty good with anything but doesn’t see as a threat, but if it doesn’t like it, he makes sure everyone knows.
