chances are if you breed a pink con to a striped con you'll get about 60% striped and 40% pink. the only way you'll get marbled fry is if both parents carry the marbled gene.

years ago I had a pink female and a striped male and every one of their fry ended up striped.

I have a pink with black splotches in the face and dorsal fin.
Parents were pink male black female.

i know it is easier if i have a marbled parents .. but here no one knows the marbled convict yet

and the convict prices now is very low ( as am a breeder and care for the price i get on the fry )

so i want to get to the marbled so that i ll have a new chances of higher prices ..

It's not as hard to find marbled cons as you might think. A single black spot here or there on an otherwise normal-looking pink will be enough to get your marbles started. Keep an eye on the pinks. I've noticed the number of mrables around here increasing and they're always in batches of pinks.

my try now is on white ( pink ) male and a zebra ( stripped ) female

and they are free swimmers 2day the fry of them i mean so i ll see what i ll get and the second try is on a pink pair

plus i had no problem with time .. so i ll just wait to get what i want from them

then from ur words that the chances of marbled con is from a pink pair is higher ??

For the past year, I have been keeping an eye out for marbled convicts in pink convicts. I have purchased about 12 of them this year all from a tank of pink convicts. Like straitjacketstar said, just look for a pink con with a black blotch. It may be very small. Make sure its black, not yellow, or brown.

Also... email Jeff Rapps from Tangled up in cichlids. He mentioned once that he and another breeder helped get the line going.

u mean a breed of white male with zebra female won't get any thing ??

I breed a white male with a zebra female and got lighter colored zebras. I was growing them out for someone but he decided he didn't want them so they hit the feeder tank at a little over an inch. Not sure how much they would have changed but none looked marbled at that age.

ive made marbles.I just pretty much bred the black out of them.I started of with a black male n pink female.bred them together got babies,some pink some black.I took a pink female bred it back to the dad,some black some pink,took his pink granddaughter bred it back to original black male got babies.Took a female pink from that batch bred it back to the origianal black male.and so on.Now during that time i was also breeding the pink males back to the pink female back to the mom(pink) resulting in all pink.ive got marbles both ways.evenually you will get marbles this way but it will take some generations.This method has worked for me many times.Im thinking of trying to make some marbled leucistics at the moment but we will see.hope this helped.
