Convict filtration

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Thanks for all your help guys i changed my penguin filter to the sponge filter and the fry are doing fine, and now my gold rams are digging pits all over my 55 -.-.

Convicts will eat anything. I start them off on crushed flakes with an almost 90% success rate. The other 10% are consumed by the parents. green water is just unnecessary IMO. The fry can eat bigger foods, and more nutritous foods from day 1.

Try algae, they'll eat that no worries, and it means no work for you. lol

I leave the algae for them to grave on. Leaving them to eat primaraly on algae isnt a very nutrient rich diet. In the meantime, I still feed the flakes, them move onto brine shrimp, bloodworms and small pellets.
My con's would graze on algae untill they got thier first brine shrimp. Which was at about at .4" TL.

I removed the male because the female was beating up on him. I've started putting a algae wafer that I used for plecos every 2 days the fry love it.
