So my convicts must have spawned even though I thought they were both males a couple days ago, I found out because I walked over to feed them and saw a bunch of fry swimming under them. My girlfriend just told me that she doesnt see them anywhere and that they're not where they were. I left the light on because I didn't want the other fish to eat them. could they have moved the fry to the clay cave thinng I have or im thinking my peacock eel which I've only seen maybe 4 times since I got him a month or longer ago ate them even though theyre only suppose to eat at night any thoughts on what happened?

Never mind everybody, my girlfriend just said they all came out of the claypot so I guess they moved them in there?

Yeah, my Jellybean parrots, which are very similar to cons, will often move the herd of fry if they think they need to be moved.

ok cool is it safe to turn the light on the aquarium off? or will they be eaten?

If something wants to eat them I wouldn't think they would care if the lights are on or off. Why don't you move them to another tank or get one of those little fry holders that go on the side of the tank. If your gonna keep then in the big tank leaving the light on might be best I'm not sure. I know there's a lot of fish that feed or will wreck havoc once the lights go off.

Well I no my 2 convicts run the tank, the Jacks I have are afraid of them along with the tiger barbs. how would I move the fry to the breeder thing tho? I dont have a vac, and the funny thing is that my tank is super clean.

+1

I used to think the same thing about my Yellow Finned eel, until I saw him stalk and take down a ghost shrimp with the lights on.. and still frequently see him do it...

ok ill have her start turning them off during the day then

I've never bred fish before so I'm not sure how you would move them. Maybe ask in the breeding section I'm sure someone could answer the question there. Wouldn't just netting them out work?
