Do you think that these two convicts could overpopulate my tank? Or is it unlikely that enough fry would survive to overpopulate my tank.

In sure they'll over populate the tank eventually.

With them being in a community tank will the other fish eat some of the fry? Are convicts able to live in a colony or will they kill each other off after a while?

They will stay as a group for a while. I'd say around a half inch they'll start doing their own thing. Ive seen 1" females lay and successfully raise fry so they can start reproducing really early. I've never seen convicts kill each other off per say. Lots of flaring up and fighting but never killing each other.

I just saw a group of about 20 fry in my tank today- didnt even know they laid eggs. Way cool! Mom and dad are crazy protective and have the corner of my 125 protected... its a community tank, so time will tell how long they last.
