Well basicly can a convict live in a 10 gallon? And what do they need to survive.. Like food, temp., decorations, water ph, um anything special in particular.. And do they have any personality?? I have been looking through threads but i decided i wanted to ask the question myself, thankyou!!!!:)

I wouldn't go smaller than a 20 gallon for one. They're a small fish with big personality that likes room to roam.

yes the minimum you tank size you should have them in is 20g. They grow to be about 6inchs and in a 10g tank they wont be able to move much, they are very active fish. Also the filtration of a 10g tank wouldnt be good enogh. Their water temp can range from 70-78. pH range: 5.5 - 7.8. hardness range: 1 - 15 dH. You can feed them just regular cichlid flakes. But when they get older you can feed them shrimp pellets.

I think you can get by with a ten, provided its the only fish in the tank and is over filtered. Having said that, unless it is very small/young now, i wouldnt put an older/larger fish in a 10.

75-80 temp
flake and pellets
Simple cave, clay flower pot.
because you wouldnt have much room, id keep the decorations to a minumum. Thin layer of gravel or sand.

over filtration, canister plus a hob.

Do u think I should use the 10 as a growout? The LFS I go to sells very small cons, like less than a inch and they would be the only fish in the growout..... how fast do they grow?
