So on Wednesday I leave for Germany for 11 days. Right now I have a pair of convicts ( 1 1/2" and 2") and a 3 1/2" convict in a 10 gallon tank. This is only a temporary setup.

The two small convicts first eggs just hatched. They are protective, but if the other one stays in her corner the two little ones don't mind.

I want to move her to avoid any catastrophe while I am gone. I am expecting after a few days she will get hungry and try to eat the fry resulting in serious fighting. Right now I have an empty five gallon tank. I just moved my fish out of that tank to a new tank.

I want to know if my 3 1/2" convict would be okay in this five gallon for 11 days.

most likely yes, just make sure it has good filtration and a lid cause the fish might jump out.

yeah it's definitely not ideal but he'd be ok for 11 days. as mentioned make sure the water is well filtrated and aerated.

A 3 1/2" fish in a 5 gallon tank.. space may not be a problem if it's just 11 days.
But ammonia could rise very fast.
Do you have a filter in that 5 gallon? If you do, you can but some of your substrate (is that the right word for it in English??) from your current filter to the filter in the 5 gallon, that way it will be cycled.
And like Jason mentioned, keep the tank aerated.

11 days...Im sure it will be fine. I bought my last tank off craig's list and the dude comes out with a small colony (18!!) of convicts that he had in a bucket for a week. a bucket! still alive after 3 months.

ok just reread the post. ignore my other post! anyways. yes your convict should be fine i the 5 gallon for 11 days. just feed him before you leave and they should be fine. get a couple of weekend feeders to add to the tank.
