Heh cool. well i started with 6. 2 where killed off because the outher 4 paired up so i have 2 pairs of convicts 1 who rule half the tank and 2 who rule the outher half. im gona move the smaller pair into a 10 gallon and leave the bigger pair in the 20 gallon. they are still about 1-2 so they have more than enough room in the tank. but when they get bigger i dont know what im gona do with them probably leave them in a 75gallon
actually i dont think there is such thing as "big enough" in convict breeding... ive seen some very small cons that u wudnt even think knows the word "breed"... breeded.
mine go at it like drunk rednecks in the nascar parking lot lol no seriously u wont know what to do with all the fry it amazing glad all my fish arent like that
My pair killed off my foot long oscar. Little bastards. I moved them over to my 20g and in less than a week I saw fry. Like 100-200 of them. Mine made a cave in the gravel for the eggs. It's amazing how nasty fish get when they breed. The male charges the glass when I get close.
I picked the male and female when I was in the store. I just went with what I knew, short back fins for the female, longer pointer fins for the male. My female also has some orange spots on the stomach. When she was in heat, she showed alot of color in the fins. I had never seen a convict look that good before. Before too long the male was slammin' my jag, my firemouths, JD, I was like ok, you guys gots to go.
I don't think there's a tank big enough to house convicts cause they just keep breeding and breeding and breeding and......We've learned to feed them off to other bigger fish but for whatever reason not all our fish will eat them must not taste too good ??? Anyway they'll fill up a 75 gallon in no time!!!!
